Czech Republic is located in central Europe. This country is between Poland to the northeast, Germany to the west and northwest, Austria to the south and Slovakia to the east. It was formed in the 9th century but it reached its greatest defensive extent during the 13th and 14th century. The most popular spoken language is Czech followed by Polish and German. The estimated population is 10,230,060 in the 2001 census. The currency that they use is the Czech koruna. The tourism in Prague has decreased a lot in the past years due to the cost for visitors being too expensive compared to the level of services that is available. The reputation of this country has been at risk because of the overcharging of taxi drivers and all the pick pocketing problems. The Czech Republic as a whole generally has a low crime rate. Aside from these problems Prague is a relatively safe city where most areas are very safe to walk after dark. The cuisine in Czech is known to be a strong emphasis on meat dishes like Pork for example. Czechs two most popular sports are soccer and ice hockey so it is relatively similar to Canada. I would love to visit the Czech Republic!
